What is the SRS Museum?

The Savannah River Site (SRS) Museum is where science and history come together to tell the story of the Savannah River Site and its impact on the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA). Through exhibits, artifacts, and educational programming, we preserve and share this important legacy.

We are located at 224 Laurens St SW, Aiken, South Carolina 29801.

What are your hours of operation?

The museum is open Wednesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. We offer extended visiting hours during our Third Thursday programming every month. Check out our social media for more information!

How much does it cost to visit?

Admission is always free, and donations are graciously accepted.

Do I need to make a reservation to visit?

No reservation is required for general admission. Visitors are welcome during regular hours. Please call ahead for group tour requests.

How long does it take to go through the museum?

Most visitors spend between 45 minutes to 1.5 hours exploring the exhibits, though you are welcome to stay as long as you like.

Is the museum family friendly?

Yes! We offer engaging exhibits and hands-on educational opportunities suitable for a wide range of ages.

Is the museum accessible?

Yes, the museum is accessible. Our accessible entrance is in our back parking lot, located off of Hoods Lane. We have accessible parking available, as well. If you have any questions regarding accessibility, please call the SRSM Staff at the museum.

Do you offer educational programs?

Yes, we offer a variety of educational programming for students and families throughout the year. Check our website or social media for upcoming events.

Do I need to register for programs?

Yes, most programs require advanced registration as space may be limited.

What is your no-show policy for programs?

We ask that you notify us in advance if you are unable to attend so we can offer your spot to another participant.

Do you host private events or group visits?

Yes, group visits can be arranged. Please contact in advance to schedule. For private event rentals, please contact the museum director.

Do you accept donations of artifacts?

Yes, we welcome artifacts, documents, and memorabilia related to the Savannah River Site. If we do not accept an item that you bring, we will try to direct you to the correct institution.

How do I donate an item?

Please contact the museum by phone or email to schedule an appointment so we can review your items.

Do you appraise or purchase artifacts?

No, the museum does not appraise or purchase artifacts.

Is photography allowed in the museum?

Photography for personal use is generally permitted. Commercial photography or filming requires prior approval from SRSM Staff. Please review our photography policy here.

Food and beverages are not permitted in exhibit areas. Water is allowed in sealed or closed containers only.

Are bags allowed?

Small bags are allowed, but we ask that larger bags be left in your vehicle when possible.
